This is one of the most challenging trekking routes in the country and it has established a global reputation as one of the toughest in the world. Therefore, factors such as fitness, altitude sickness, distance and weather conditions will play a major role for the trekkers who will experience this arduous journey throughout the days.

This trek crosses heights to a maximum altitude of 5,320 m and minimum of 2,850 m. This route can only be passable during the months from June-October after which the trekking routes become impassable.

Day 1
Arrive Paro – Thimphu

Upon arrival at the Paro International Airport, you will be received by our Guide and Driver who will drive you to Thimphu. You will enjoy the drive from Paro – Thimphu through the valley and beautiful landscapes. Visit National Memorial Chorten, Buddha Dordhenma and Tashichho Dzong before you finally retire for the night.

Day 2
Thimphu Sightseeing

Visit Changangkha Lhakhang, Takin Zoo, National Library, National Institute of Traditional Medicine, Folk Heritage Museum and Royal Textile Academy.

Day 3
Thimphu – Punakha

Drive from Thimphu to Tashithang situated in Punakha Valley where you will camp for the night and then begin your trek the next day.

Tashithang – Damji (8 km – 6 hours)
Day 5
Damji – Gasa (15 km – 9 hours)
Day 6
Gasa – Chamsa (13 km – 8 hours)

Chamsa – Laya (22 km – 11 hours)
Day 8
Stopover at Laya
Day 9
Laya – Rhodophu (19 km – 9 hours)
Day 10
Rhodophu – Tarina (25 km – 12 hours)
Day 11
Tarina – Woche (17 km – 9 hours)
Day 12
Woche – Lhedi (17 km – 9 hours)
Day 13
Lhedi – Thanza (17 km – 9 hours)
Day 14
Stopover at Thanza
Day 15
Thanza – Tshorim (19 km – 11 hours)
Day 16
Tshorim – Gangkar Puensum Base Camp (16 km – 9 hours)
Day 17
Rest day at Gangkar Puensum Base Camp
Day 18
Gangkar Puensum – Geshe Woma (14 km – 7 hours)
Day 19
Geshe Woma – Warathang (18 km – 9 hours)
Day 20
Warathang – Dhur Tshachu (14 km – 7 hours)
Day 21
Dhur Tshachu – Tshoche Chen (16 km – 8 hours)
Day 22
Tshoche Chen – Dhur (motor road) – Bumthang

Your Trek will end at the Dhur motor road where our team will wait for you with transport and drive you to your hotel to spend the night.

Day 23
Bumthang Sightseeing

Visit Jambay Lhakhang (Monastery) to Kurjey Lhakhang and end at Tamshing Lhakhang walking over a small suspension bridge. You will be able to experience a traditional Bhutanese meal at a farmhouse in time for lunch halfway through your walk. Upon completion you can choose to visit the local *Red Panda Beer Brewery or the Cheese Factory or both. (Closed on Sundays and Gov. holiday)

Day 24
Bumthang – Trongsa

On the way to Trongsa, visit the weaving center at Chumi. Continue the journey and visit the Museum & Trongsa Dzong. Later part of afternoon explore the local market.

Day 25
Trongsa – Paro

You will begin your day by driving to Paro via Dochula pass and Semtokha Dzong. Later part of afternoon sightseeing in Paro if time permits.

Day 26
Paro

You will make a visit to fortresses such as the Ta Dzong, Rinpung Dzong and visit the ruins of Drugyel Dzong (currently under reconstruction). Additionally you will be able to visit Kyichu Lhakhang (Monastery) to end your trip to Bhutan on a spiritual note. In the evening you can visit the local market and tour the handicraft stores.

Day 27
Depart Paro

Depending on your flight timing our team will drive you to Paro Airport for your onward journey.
