Dagala Trek

The Dagala Trek is a more arduous trek but you can see numerous pristine lakes and spectacular views of Himalayan Mountains such as Mt. Everest, Jomolhari, Jichu Drake and many more. These sightings make the trek all the more worthwhile for those who want to dwell in nature’s splendor. This trek has a maximum altitude of 4720 m and is most suitable for the months from April – June and September – October.

Day 1
Arrival – Paro Airport -Thimphu

Upon arrival at the Paro International Airport, you will be received by our Guide and Driver who will drive you to Thimphu. You will enjoy the drive from Paro – Thimphu through the valley and beautiful landscapes. Visit National Memorial Chorten, Buddha Dordhenma and Tashichho Dzong before you finally retire for the night.

Day 2
Thimphu Sightseeing

Visit Changangkha Lhakhang, Takin Zoo, National Library, National Institute of Traditional Medicine, Folk Heritage Museum and Royal Textile Academy.

Day 3
Thimphu Sightseeing

After the breakfast drive to Cheri and Tango Monastery, a good hike through oak forest. On return to town in the afternoon, visit the General Post Office where the guest can make personalized stamps and send postcards to your friends around the world with your picture on the stamp. Stroll around the handicraft shops.

Day 4
Thimphu – Genekha  (25 km by car)
Day 5
Genekha – Gur (15 km, 5 hours)
Day 6
Gur – Labatama (12 km, 5 hours)
Day 7
Labatama – Rest

Here the Guests will have the option to halt for the day to relax or those who still have the energy can spend the day hiking around the area.

Day 8
Labatama – Panka (8 km, 4 hours)
Day 9
Panka – Talekha (8 km, 4 hours)
Day 10
Talekha –  Paro

Your trek finally ends at Talekha from where you will be driven to Paro by the Guide and Driver.  Spend the rest of the day relaxing.

Day 11
Paro Sightseeing

After the breakfast, you will visit Ta Dzong, Rinpung Dzong and walk down to town over one of the oldest Wooden Cantilever bridge.  Later visit also the ruins of Drugyel Dzong and Kyichu Lhakhang. Later part of the day, the guests are free to explore and mingle with the local (villagers) people in the small town of Paro.

Day 12
Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

After an early breakfast, those guests who still have the energy can hike up to Taktshang (Tiger’s Nest) which takes about 2 and half hours up and about two hours down.   The guests can enjoy the beautiful view of the monastery on the cliff while hiking up.

Day 13
Departure

After breakfast, depending on your flight timing our Guide and Driver will drive you to Paro Airport for your onward journey.
